SoccerRoos offers multiple locations and multiple age groups.
The curriculum for each program/league is age specific.
Our training and game format are customized to meet the abilities of children in each age group. This includes the length of each session. As players get older, their ability to focus over longer periods of time increases.
We encourage players to dribble and go to goal, without fear of failure. If they make mistakes, that is fine. Making mistakes is part of the process while trying to learn and improve.
Age groups include:
Joeys - ages 2.5-3 (30 min program)
Joeys program includes foot skills and fun skill games. Kids in this age group have tons of energy, but very limited attention span.
All players will have a ball the entire session and kept busy with fun interactive games that incorporate their ball. They will develop ball skills while also getting exercise and improving balance & coordination. Depending on level of the group, we will introduce "game-like" scrimmage after first few sessions.
Kangas - ages 4-5 (45 min program)
Wallaby Leagues start each session with foot skills, fun skill games and concludes with a small sided game. Each session the players will learn a deceptive dribbling move. Spacial concepts are extremely tough for young players, so we will focus mainly on dribbling and shooting skills. The final 15-20 minutes players will play small sided soccer games; 3v3 or 4v4. Our unique game format for our 4-5 year olds promotes skill development, with confidence building opportunities. It's proven to be more fun, faster pace, and better for development.
Jr Roos Leagues - ages 6-8 (60 min program)
Jr Roos Leagues start with more advanced fun skill games, include deceptive dribbling moves, and concludes with a small sided game. We will begin to teach spacial concepts for the small sided games at this age group. We introduce width and depth (spacing/spreading out), not position specific at this age level.
Coaches
Our coaches have soccer experience and more importantly, are great with young kids. We have found having good coaches that are also current or former players helps in multiple ways. They are very capable of demonstrating skills at all age levels and their passion for the game helps make it a more enjoyable experience for the kids. As players get older and more competitive, we also discuss and promote sportsmanship.
